Anthropic filed for an initial public offering on October 26, moving the artificial intelligence company behind Claude closer to a stock market debut that could come as early as November. The proposed listing would give public investors a direct stake in the developer as its financial disclosures reveal rapid revenue growth alongside substantial losses.

The company said it filed a registration statement on Form S-1 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for an offering of Class A common stock. It intends to list on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker symbol ANT, but has not determined the number of shares to be offered or the proposed price range.

Anthropic disclosed $16.3 billion in revenue for the first half of 2026, compared with about $1.16 billion in the same period a year earlier. That roughly fourteenfold increase illustrates the pace at which its business has expanded, although revenue growth alone does not establish whether that expansion can deliver sustained profitability.

The company also reported a first-half net loss of $80.7 billion. According to Associated Press reporting on the filing, that figure included a one-time $72.4 billion accounting charge related to financing agreements, an important distinction when assessing the headline loss against the company's underlying business performance.

The accounting adjustment means the reported net loss should not be treated as an equivalent measure of cash spent during the period. Even so, the financial disclosures put the relationship between growth, costs and financing at the center of the investment case as Anthropic prepares to seek public-market backing.

The public filing follows Anthropic's confidential submission of a draft registration statement on June 1. At that stage, the company said the submission gave it the option to go public after the SEC completed its review, while emphasizing that an offering would depend on market conditions and other factors.

The prospectus also distinguishes between shares sold by Anthropic and those sold by existing stockholders. The company would not receive proceeds from stockholders' sales, meaning the eventual headline size of the transaction would not necessarily equal the amount of new capital available to the business.

For investors, the proposed listing would create a public-market reference point for a company developing advanced AI models. Its disclosures offer a way to assess commercial growth against reported losses, while the still-undetermined price and share count leave the offering's valuation and fundraising scale unresolved.

November remains a possible timetable rather than a confirmed trading date. Anthropic said its registration statement had not yet become effective and that the securities could not be sold before that happened, leaving further regulatory and transaction steps before a debut.

The next key disclosures will be the offering's proposed price range, share count and any subsequent changes to its terms. Until those details emerge, the filing establishes Anthropic's intention to go public, but not the final cost to investors, the amount it will raise or the date its shares will begin trading.
