The tokenized-equity market has reached roughly $3.84 billion, according to Bitcoin.com News, as blockchain-based representations of major U.S. stocks expand across public networks. On Base, Coinbase-issued tokens linked to companies including Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet and Amazon are bringing equity exposure into decentralized financial applications.

The development connects corporate earnings season with markets designed to operate beyond conventional exchange hours. Base says tokenized stocks can trade around the clock, allowing holders to respond to company announcements and other developments through participating blockchain venues.

The distinction between the companies, the issuer and the network is important. These products are issued by Coinbase rather than by Apple or the other underlying companies, while Base provides the blockchain infrastructure. Their availability does not mean those companies have moved their primary stock listings onto a blockchain.

Base describes the tokens as backed by underlying shares held in regulated custody and built using its B20 token standard. Holders can keep fractional equity exposure in self-custody wallets and transfer or trade it through compatible applications. That makes the assets usable across software-based financial services rather than confined to a single trading interface.

Lending is already part of that expansion. In a September 25 announcement, Aave Labs said seven Coinbase tokenized technology stocks were live as collateral on Aave V4 on Base, enabling users to borrow USDC. The supported group includes tokens linked to Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia and Tesla.

Aave said the equity tokens were collateral-only at launch, meaning users could not borrow the stocks themselves or establish equity-against-equity positions. It also described a custody structure in which underlying shares sit in segregated accounts at Alpaca Securities. Dividends are reinvested, with corporate actions reflected through an adjustment mechanism rather than direct cash distributions to token holders.

Continuous blockchain access does not mean every component updates continuously. According to Aave, its equity price feeds retain their last published values over weekends and U.S. market holidays. The distinction matters during earnings-driven volatility: an always-open application and the pricing arrangements supporting a lending position operate under different constraints.

Access also remains geographically limited. Base and Aave say Coinbase’s tokenized stocks are available only to eligible non-U.S. users in permitted jurisdictions. The ability to hold an asset in a blockchain wallet therefore should not be confused with unrestricted worldwide availability.

For developers, Base is pitching tokenized shares as building blocks for new brokerage services, personalized investment baskets and programmable rewards. Its September 1 request for builders also outlined potential credit products tied to income-producing assets. Those proposals describe areas for development, not evidence that every suggested application is already operating.

The next stage will depend on deeper integrations and the conditions governing their use. Aave says additional stocks and borrowing options are expected over time, subject to governance and risk review. Earnings season provides a practical test of how these connected trading, custody and lending systems function when company news changes demand.
