VanEck Launches Wealth Builder ETF Combining Stocks, Bonds and Bitcoin in a Single Fund

VanEck launched a new all-in-one exchange-traded fund on October 27, 2026, that bundles global equities, fixed income, real assets, and a modest bitcoin position into a single NYSE-listed product. The fund, trading under the ticker WBMO, is designed to give retail and adviser-directed investors broad diversification without the need to manage multiple positions across separate ETFs.

The Wealth Builder ETF carries a target bitcoin allocation of 2%, with a permitted range of 1% to 5%. Rather than holding bitcoin directly, the fund routes its digital-asset exposure through a spot bitcoin exchange-traded product, keeping the structure compliant with conventional investment frameworks while still capturing cryptocurrency upside.

Alongside the bitcoin sleeve, WBMO holds global equities and fixed income instruments, as well as real assets including gold. VanEck draws on both its own product range and third-party ETPs to build the portfolio, which is actively managed and periodically rebalanced by the firm's multi-asset team.

David Schassler, VanEck's head of multi-asset solutions and the fund's portfolio manager, framed the launch as a response to structural shifts in the investment landscape. "The traditional 60/40 portfolio was built for a different investment landscape," Schassler said. "An asset allocation that extends beyond stocks and bonds to include real assets gives investors the potential to perform across a wider range of economic outcomes."

The fund's gross expense ratio stands at 0.33%, with fee waivers bringing the net ratio down to 0.26% and a stated management fee of 0.15%. For a multi-asset actively managed product that incorporates cryptocurrency exposure, the pricing positions WBMO competitively against both traditional balanced funds and emerging multi-asset crypto products.

WBMO is rooted in VanEck's existing Wealth Builder model portfolios, which the firm has previously made available to financial advisers through wealth management platforms. Converting that framework into a standalone ETF broadens access to individual investors who may not work with an adviser, lowering the barrier to a macro-informed, diversified allocation.

VanEck said the fund's construction is guided by the identification of 10-year macro trends, suggesting the portfolio will evolve as the firm's longer-term economic outlook shifts. That active mandate distinguishes WBMO from passive balanced ETFs, which maintain fixed allocations regardless of market conditions.

The firm disclosed that its firm-wide assets under management stood at approximately $244.1 billion as of September 30, 2026, underscoring VanEck's scale as it pushes further into the multi-asset and digital-asset ETF segment.

VanEck did note regulatory caveats associated with the fund's digital asset sleeve, flagging that bitcoin ETPs are not registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and carry extreme price volatility alongside limited investor protections relative to traditional securities.

The launch arrives as institutional and retail appetite for regulated bitcoin products continues to grow following the broader approval of spot bitcoin ETPs in the United States. Asset managers have been racing to embed digital assets into diversified wrappers, and WBMO represents one of the more explicit attempts to position bitcoin as a permanent, if small, component of a mainstream balanced portfolio.

Whether demand materialises at scale will depend in part on how financial advisers receive the product. VanEck's existing relationships through its model-portfolio platform could provide an early distribution advantage, though the fund will ultimately need to demonstrate performance and stability to attract long-term flows.
