Ripple, Robinhood Expand Partnership to Bring RLUSD to Retail and Institutional Markets
Robinhood will integrate Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin across its app and institutional settlement infrastructure, as Ripple also deepens ties with BNY and trade-finance firm C2FO.

Ripple and Robinhood have deepened their commercial relationship, agreeing to roll out Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin across Robinhood's retail app and institutional settlement network. The announcement marks one of the more significant expansions of RLUSD's distribution footprint since the stablecoin launched in December 2024.
RLUSD is already available on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp by Robinhood, but the two companies said a direct integration into the main Robinhood consumer app is planned for later in 2026. On the institutional side, Robinhood will use RLUSD on the XRP Ledger to facilitate settlement operations, targeting the speed and cost advantages the ledger's infrastructure is designed to provide.
Beyond customer-facing services, Robinhood will also adopt Ripple Treasury to manage its own global cash and liquidity needs. The platform covers payment processing, cash flow forecasting, and intercompany transactions, embedding Ripple's technology into Robinhood's core financial operations rather than just its product offerings.
RLUSD has grown quickly since its debut. The stablecoin now carries a market capitalisation of approximately $2.57 billion, with nearly $1 billion of that supply issued on the XRP Ledger. Robinhood, for its part, reported 28.6 million funded customers globally as of August, giving the distribution deal meaningful reach into mainstream retail investing.
Separately, Ripple said it is expanding its existing collaboration with BNY, the custody and financial-services giant. BNY's Digital Asset Custody platform will support the holding of both XRP and RLUSD, and the two firms plan to enable BNY clients to mint and redeem RLUSD directly. The arrangement is also expected to broaden support for tokenised assets on the XRP Ledger over time.
In a third deal announced alongside the others, Ripple partnered with C2FO, a working-capital platform, to bring trade-finance settlement onto the XRP Ledger using RLUSD. The integration targets C2FO's Instant Pay service, which allows suppliers to receive payments against invoices. Settling those transactions in RLUSD on the XRP Ledger could compress payment times from days to seconds, the companies said.
The C2FO integration is currently in a testing phase. A controlled launch and first live transactions are expected before the end of 2026, according to the announcement.
The cluster of deals arrives shortly after Ripple received final approval from the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to establish a national trust bank, a regulatory milestone that would let the company offer custody and other trust services under a federal charter. That clearance gives institutional counterparties like BNY and Robinhood additional regulatory confidence when deepening ties with the firm.
Taken together, the announcements signal an effort by Ripple to move RLUSD beyond crypto-native venues and into mainstream financial plumbing — from consumer brokerage apps to corporate treasury management and supply-chain finance. The XRP Ledger is positioned as the shared settlement rail across each of these use cases.
How quickly retail adoption follows will depend in part on regulatory clarity around stablecoins in the United States, where federal legislation governing dollar-pegged tokens remains under debate. A clearer legal framework could accelerate timelines; continued uncertainty may push the Robinhood app launch toward the latter end of 2026 or beyond.
