Pokémon celebrated its 30th anniversary Saturday night with an electronic dance music concert at Intuit Dome, bringing Marshmello and Alison Wonderland into a production built around the franchise’s characters. Billed as Pokémon Night Out, the Los Angeles event combined the world of its video games and trading cards with lasers, pyrotechnics and large-scale visuals, according to Variety.

The October 24 concert was the first of two Night Out events announced by The Pokémon Company International for 2026. Marshmello was the headliner, with Alison Wonderland opening the show, in a format aimed at bringing electronic music audiences and Pokémon fans together in an arena setting.

Rather than presenting the anniversary solely through games or collectibles, Night Out placed music and visual storytelling at the center of the experience. Organizers announced custom sets and Pokémon-themed visuals created specifically for the concerts, describing the collaboration as the brand’s first move into the global EDM spotlight.

Ahead of the performances, The Pokémon Company International said both artists had worked with it on exclusive sets and bespoke imagery. A behind-the-scenes teaser offered an early look at production development and test footage, establishing that the Pokémon elements were being incorporated into the concert’s creative planning rather than simply its promotional branding.

The event also gave the anniversary a distinctly older audience focus: admission was for fans ages 16 and up. That positioning distinguished Night Out from the family-oriented Pokémon Day Out experiences announced separately as part of the same anniversary program, allowing different live formats to serve different parts of the fan community.

Pokémon launched in Japan in 1996, making the concert part of a celebration spanning three decades of the franchise. Its games, trading cards and animated entertainment provide the shared background for an event that asks fans to engage with familiar characters in a different setting, through live performance rather than play or collecting.

The concerts sit within Pokémon’s broader anniversary campaign, titled What’s Your Favorite? In announcing the series, the company framed music as a way to connect fans with one another, positioning the arena gatherings as shared experiences for a community that extends across generations and countries.

The Los Angeles show was also offered as a livestream on Pokémon’s YouTube and Twitch channels, extending access beyond those attending Intuit Dome. Organizers separately announced commemorative merchandise, with selected products offered online and limited quantities planned for the venues; availability was to vary by location.

The next announced stop is London’s The O2 on November 10, with Marshmello and Alison Wonderland again on the lineup. That performance will complete the two-night series outlined by organizers, carrying the same Pokémon-and-dance-music concept into the second of its two anniversary arena events.
